I ♥ a homemade website

Note! I am currently in the process of cleaning up a bunch of broken image files so things might not look so great right now... bear with me & check back soon :)

I grew up on the internet and adored flash games and tumblr pages and rookiemag. The internet has changed significantly since then, but there are still plenty of people carving out their own little spaces here and there. I learned html/css just for fun... mostly after learning about the Digital Garden (explained here by Maggie Appleton). I built my own and used it for it's "original purpose" (to compile digital notes and thoughts), but in the end, I believe it mostly served as a great learning tool for basic static website building.

Once I secured my own domain(s), the possibilities were endless. And I've now got tons of little projects floating around (including this!).

Many of them were made around the same time and explore similar themes; love, longing, loneliness... they were outlets for things I felt too afraid to share explicitly on the Normal Internet. These little websites have the tendency to make the worldwibe web feel so intimate.

Sometimes helping out my friends with their projects, and sometimes just playing around. Nothing can stop a girl with a digicam, a moodboard, & a dream...

My best friend made a bridal line and cancelled the official photoshoot the night before. She told me to come to the movie theater the next morning with whatever cameras I had and we'll shoot it the old fashioned way (with an essence that only a former teenage girl could know).
